David Gerson

Managing Director

David is a Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer of Epta Capital Management, and Chair of the Investment Committee of the Epta Capital Management Fund.



David is a co-founder and Principal of Beechwood Property Holdings, a real estate enterprise which acquires, renovates, leases, and manages multifamily residential properties in the Philadelphia area. Since its inception in 2014, Beechwood has raised three private funds for the acquisition and improvement of 17 multifamily buildings.

From 1988 until September 2016, he was a lawyer in private practice, most recently a partner for over 20 years with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where his practice focused on representing private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies in mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters, and representing issuers in securities transactions and compliance. In his legal practice, he regularly advised boards of directors, executives and key decision makers on issues at the intersection of legal challenges and business opportunities. He also served in an extensive array of firm leadership capacities, including service on the firm’s Advisory Board, leader of the Corporate and Business Transactions (CBT) practice group in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh offices, Deputy Practice Group Leader of the firmwide CBT practice, Deputy Office Managing Partner of the Pittsburgh office, and Chair of the firm’s Nominating Committee.

From 2016 until October 2024, he was a member of the Board and of the Loan Committee of Spring Garden Capital Group, LLC, an alternative lending business specializing in transitional, short-term loans on real estate projects. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Issue One, a cross-partisan nonprofit organization which seeks to address dysfunction in politics and build a democracy that works for everyone; in addition to his service as a Director, he serves as Issue One’s Secretary and also sits on its Executive Committee and Nominating Committee.
