Investment Approach


At Epta Capital, we focus on identifying, investing in, and supporting institutions that we believe can achieve growth and success for their stakeholders.  Our role is active, not passive; we seek management teams who are open to engagement and guidance in getting to their next level.  We look for opportunities to deploy our capital, experience, and networks across both balance sheet and operational domains in support of generating positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

Industry Focus

We focus exclusively on community banks, generally with between $500 million and $10 billion in assets.  We look for institutions with strong positions in their local markets, that create enduring relationships with both depositors and borrowers.  Our team’s experience, including both community bank CEOs and professionals across the finance industry, contributes to our ability to identify opportunities that we think show potential, and to support value creation during our investment period.

Lifecycle Flexibility

We partner with management teams at various stages of growth – from banks seeking expansion capital to those preparing for generational transition – and provide resources and expertise appropriate to their point in the community bank lifecycle that can support their needs.

Investment Size

We generally target equity investments of $1 million to $10 million per institution, with the flexibility to pursue smaller strategic positions or larger investments alongside our network of co-investors.

Ownership Positions

We typically structure minority equity investments to try to align our interests with those of management and other stakeholders.  Our goal is to be a supportive partner while respecting the interests of all parties.

Our capital is structured with flexibility to support both near-term initiatives and long-term growth objectives. We take a patient approach to investing, with horizons that adapt to the strategic priorities of each portfolio company.
