Mike Soumekh

Principal, CIO & COO

Mike Soumekh is the CIO & COO of Epta Capital, where he leads the firm’s investment activities and fund operations. He focuses on investing in community banks and specialty finance platforms, with an emphasis on capital structure, funding strategy, and long-term value creation. He brings a background in specialty finance and investment banking, with experience advising financial sponsors and executing complex transactions across industries, with a focus on financial services, including banks, insurance, and specialty finance.

Prior to founding Epta, Mike was a Vice President in Bank of America’s Financial Sponsors Group, where he advised leading private equity firms on more than $100 billion of M&A and capital markets transactions. He has executed over 50 transactions across financial services and other sectors, including several multi-billion-dollar carve-outs in the insurance and industrial sectors. His experience includes advising on control and minority investments, structuring equity and credit financings, and developing capital solutions to support portfolio company growth and strategic repositioning.

Mike has experience working with financial sponsors investing in banks, insurance companies, and specialty finance platforms. His work spans leveraged buyouts, capital raises, strategic mergers, recapitalizations, and carve-outs, supporting a range of transaction and financing initiatives.

Earlier in his career, Mike worked in M&A advisory at Crystal & Company, focusing on financial sponsor transactions across industries.



He holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BA in Economics and Environmental Studies from Denison University.
